Embarkation time is not later than 8:00 am at ( Downtown ) or Tat Kalay Jetty. Cast off and sail through downstream from Bhamo and we enter the dramatic 2nd defile with its magnificent cliffs reaching down the narrow channel. We arrive at Katha in the late afternoon. The setting of George Orwell’s book “Burmese Days” and also the place where hundreds of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company ships were scuttled in 1942 before the Japanese could seize them. We explore this pleasant colonial town.
Continue sightseeing to Katha. After breakfast, morning walk to the local market first, we will also visit by local bus surrounded by hills plenty of hardwood forests and elephant logging camp. Back to ship for lunch. Cast off time is 12:00 noon and arrives at Htigyaing in the late afternoon. In the evening we climb up to Pagoda for its spectacular river view. BBQ dinner at sandbank (depend on water level) on the Irrawaddy River with Bon Fire & Hot air balloon.
Early morning cast off and continue sailing downstream through and cruising the whole day. In the late afternoon arrive at Kyauk Myaung We visiting the spectacular potteries-making village of Kyauk Myaung, and see the manufacture stages of the famous 50 Gallons (200 liters) pots. After dinner The Classical Ballet, the performance by Mandalay Art & Culture School.
Back to the ship and cast off at 7:00 am. Continue downstream to Mingun (Eta 13.00 hrs). Visit the unfinished pagoda, the largest working bell in the world and the “home for the aged”. Back to the ship and luggage call, settlement of your drinks bill. Approximately arrive at Mandalay at 16:00 pm and disembark from the ship.
