Embarkation time is 08:00 am and sail through downstream from Bhamo and we enter the dramatic 2nd defile with its magnificent cliffs reaching down the narrow channel and visit a typical river village. We arrive at Katha, in the late afternoon, a beautiful town with and interesting market, friendly people, and a unique atmosphere. The setting of the George Orwell’s book “Burmese Days” and also the place where hundreds of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company ships were scuttled in 1942 before the Japanese could seize them. We explore this pleasant colonial town surrounded by hills plenty of hardwood forests and (if time permit) we will also visit an elephant logging. Dinner and overnight on boat.

After breakfast, sailing continue downstream until Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Upon arrival, proceed to explore the ancient city archaeological area and fortifications. Dinner and overnight on boat.

Continue downstream through and cruising the whole day. We will pass the Third Defile and arrive the spectacular potteries- making village of Kyauk Myaung, around early evening, and see the manufacture stages of the famous 50 Gallons (200 Litres) pots. We will arrive near Htone Gyi Village around late evening. After dinner, the classical Ballet, performance by Mandalay Art & Culture School. Moor overnight on boat near a river village.

Sailing downstream to Mingun. Visit the unfinished pagoda, the largest working bell in the world Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tonnes and the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world. Then visit the “Home For The Aged”. Back to the ship and approximately arrive to Mandalay at 16:00 pm and disembark from the ship.
