Itinerary
This is one of the best and most recommended adventure trips you can take in this part of the world. The Myeik Archipelago is unspoiled and waiting to be discovered. We go on a boat trip past beautiful islands surrounded by turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and we snorkel among beautiful coral reefs inhabited by uncountable colourful reef fish. We will also have the opportunity to meet the reclusive Moken people, often referred to as the “Sea Gypsies” as they traditionally have spent much of the year in their boathouses on the sea.
Day 1 : Arrival in Yangon and sightseeing
We welcome you to the land of glittering pagodas. On your arrival in Yangon, our guide and driver will greet you at the airport and drive you to your hotel. We will start the sightseeing in Yangon’s downtown area where you can explore on foot a range of old colonial buildings. We will visit the Yangon City Hall which is centrally located in downtown. The building is a fine example of synthetic Burmese architecture, featuring a traditional tiered roof. It is close to several significant landmarks such as the Sule Pagoda, the Maha Bandula public park, the beautiful red-brick Supreme Court of Myanmar, and the Main Post Office which is another lovely old red-brick colonial building. After lunch, we will visit Chauk Htet Kyi, a 66 meters long reclining Buddha. We will also go for an interesting walk around Kandawgyi Park at Kandawgyi Lake and visit Karaweik Palace (known as the golden glittering “Royal barge”). We then will get great panoramic views of the highlight of the day – the grand Shwedagon Pagoda where we will spend sunset and the early evening. After an incredible experience at this massive golden pagoda, which reputedly contains between 9 to 60 tonnes of solid gold, we return to our hotel for a well-deserved dinner and rest.
Day 2 : Yangon to Myeik by air, free day in Myeik
After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to the airport for the flight to Myeik. Myeik is one of the biggest fishing towns in Myanmar. “Beik”, as the locals call their hometown, produces everything for the fishing industry. On arrival, our driver will pick up you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in. Enjoy time on your own before starting the cruise tour. You can walk around Myeik city to experience the daily lives of the people. Overnight in Myeik.
Day 3 : Myeik – Mee Sein Island – Kunn Thee Island
After breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up at 7:30 am. Departure from the jetty is around 8 am and we first will visit Mee Sein Island. After arriving at the island at around 1 pm, we will enjoy swimming, snorkeling and exploring the island. We then continue to Kunn Thee Island around 3 pm. Enjoy your evening relaxing, swimming, playing, and whatever else you would like to do. Overnight on the boat.
Day 4 : Kunn Thee Island – East Sular Island – Dana Theik Di Island
After breakfast on the boat, we will depart from Kunn Thee Island around 10 am to East Sular Island. Here you can do snorkeling, swimming and relaxing before we continue on to Dana Theik Di Island where we will arrive around 2 pm. We will enjoy the crystal clear waters and hopefully an incredible sunset. There are a lot of fish species such as cardinalfish, clownfish, surgeonfish and many more. The incredible underwater corals will amaze you. You can overnight in a tent on the beach or sleep on the boat.
Day 5 : Dana Theik Di Island – Kyal Laik Island – Sular Kha Mouk Island – Bailey Island
After breakfast, we will depart from Dana Theik Di Island around 9 am to Chester Island, also known as Kyal Laik Island. Upon arrival at around 10 am, you can enjoy the white sandy beach and do water activities such as swimming and snorkeling. We will depart from Chester Island around 1 pm and proceed to Sular Kha Mouk Island. Here you can walk along the beach, sunbathe, swim, snorkel and explore the coral reef and colorful fish. At around 3 pm we leave for Biley Island and overnight on the boat.
Day 6 : Bailey Island – Smart Island – Thayaw Thahan Kyi Island
After breakfast, we will depart from Bailey Island around 11 am to Smart Island where you can snorkel, swim, relax and even play soccer. We will depart from Smart Island around 3 pm to Thayaw Thahan Kyi Island where we will enjoy dinner on the island. You can overnight in a tent on the beach or sleep on the boat.
Day 7 : Thayaw Thahan Kyi Island – Dome Palae Aw – Myeik
After breakfast, we will depart from Thayaw Thahan Kyi Island around 10:30 am. Today we will meet the Sea Gypsies (Moken people) at Dome Palae Aw Village (Moken Village). Arrival in the village will be around 12 pm. The Moken are experts in free diving as they spend most of their time at sea. We will depart the Moken village around 1 pm and arrive back in Myeik at around 5 pm. Overnight in Myeik.
Day 8 : Myeik – Yangon by air, Yangon shopping day
After breakfast at the Myeik hotel, we transfer to the airport for the flight to Yangon. Upon arrival in Yangon, we will drive to the downtown area to visit the markets: Bo Gyoke Aung San Market and Junction City. These two markets are connected by a walkway bridge. There are over 2,000 sprawling shops for clothes, gemstones & jewellery, Myanmar traditional arts & crafts, and souvenirs in Bo Gyoke Aung San Market. Junction City is a first class mall with brands from around the world. Various foods and drinks are also available. After shopping, we return to the hotel or do whatever you like.
Day 9 : Yangon departure
After breakfast at your hotel, our driver will transfer you to the Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
