Early in the morning at 7:30 am we depart from Bagan to Chauk. It will take about 45 minutes of driving until we arrive at Chauk market where we will do shopping for about half an hour to buy items such as drinking water, wet-towels, toilet paper, and a mask for our trekking. We then cross the Ayeyarwaddy River via the bridge where you will see the impressive mountains and beautiful scenery. After two hours driving we will arrive at Kazunma Village where we will have a lunch at a local restaurant. We then proceed to Kanpetlet where we will enjoy a beautiful sunset (weather permitting), at Kanpetlet hill station. We stay overnight in Kanpetlet.

Day 2: Natmataung trekking – sightseeing and overnight at a local guest house

After breakfast, we start the day with a 30 minute drive to the trekking starting point. Natma Taung, Mt. Victoria, is part of the Chin Hill Range and trekking up Mt. Victoria is a great adventure not to be missed while we visit the Chin tribe. We will hike up to the top of the mountain which will take about 2½ hours from the base camp. During our trekking we will observe the life of the Chin tribe and will come across some breathtaking scenery and many wild orchids, colorful Rhododendrons flowers (taung-za-lat), cherries, and several wild flowers and lush jungle with colorful butterflies. You will note that the Chin women wear various patterns of tattoos on their faces and amber necklaces. We will have our packed lunch and continue trekking back to a different base camp and then take a 1 hour drive to Aye Village where we will overnight at a local guest house.

Day 3: Sightseeing in Chin Villages and overnight at Mindat (by car/trek)

Early in the morning we will enjoy the sunrise and then do sightseeing among the Chin Hill Tribes in Aye Village. After breakfast we continue to Shame Village by car for a 45 minutes’ drive and then hike for 45 minutes to Kyedoe Village where we can learn about the culture and tradition of the Chin Hill Tribe. Their life style is very different from Burmese people. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a Chin traditional dance performance. In Kyardoe Village, we will see their sacrificial animals such as bulls and pigs. The skulls of these animals, collected from the surrounding forests, are used for spiritual reasons as the decoration of their houses. According to their spiritual beliefs, the decoration of the houses with these skulls show their power, wealth and prestige, and there is a sense of pride in doing so. You will note the number of animals which they sacrificed and the different meanings of a variety of carvings on large wood spikes. We then proceed to explore the villages of Lote-Bell and Pukwan. Afterwards we hike down to cross a string-bridge which is built across the Makee Creek and after about 1½ hour of hiking we will arrive at our car and drive for 45 minutes to Mindat where we will overnight.

Day 4: Mindat sightseeing – departure and overnight in Bagan

Early in the morning we visit the market in Mindat and then proceed to a small village where we will enjoy a nose-flute performance by ladies of the Makaan Tribe. After breakfast we start our journey back to Bagan. After 6 hours we will pass through Kyauk-Htu and Pauk townships and after another 45 minutes will will arrive in Bagan. Enroute we will cross the Ayeyarwaddy River via the Pakokku Bridge which is the longest bridge in Myanmar and connects the townships of Bagan and Pakokku.
