When you first arrive in Mondulkiri, you may just think you’ve found yourself in an entirely different country. This is certainly one of Cambodia’s most unique places, with distinct architecture, culture, and nature. The area is home to the Bunong people, who are an ethnic minority that has lived in the Mondulkiri area for around two millennia. Mondulkiri’s relative isolation (electricity only arrived in the last decade or so) has allowed their culture to flourish. This unique culture, along with the staggering beauty of the region, makes it an absolute joy to visit.
